It's also a great source of inspiration for her creativity, which manifests itself in writing, painting, playing the piano, dancing and singing.

She loves travelling, and was lucky enough to see some of the other countries in Africa before settling at Rocklands including Tanzania, Malawi, Botswana, Zambia and Namibia. Carolyn is now traveling around the world again and we as the Rocklands team wish her all the best with her travels.

Paddy Brown Volunteer '08 - '09

Paddy is an English gent who loves river kayaking, rockclimbing and mountaineering.

'I think Rocklands is a fantastic place to live and work, beautiful surroundings, excellent management and a brilliant opportunity to share the gospel. A fringe benefit is the constant opportunities to 'hunt' baboons and persuade them that the campsite is not a buffet! I would honestly and whole-heartedly recommend volunteering at Rocklands- it can be tough, the hours can be long, but it is the most rewarding work I've done!'

Paddy is back home in England, still exploring the rivers and mountains!

Darla Hane Volunteer '08 - '09

I'm American and have lived on four continents and been involved with Christian camping in America, Scotland, and South Africa.
Rocklands is one of the best campsites I've seen; so volunteering here is painless.  I am constantly surprised and pleased that management actually allowed me to work in areas that interest me: website design; decorating; managing the shop, etc.  Sure, there were some unglamorous jobs that just had to be done, but fun projects far outnumbered them!

I am helping out at a great camp in the States and really miss the sunshine and beaches of Cape Town!

Siya Gqamana Volunteer 2008

Siya is from the Eastern Cape.  He volunteered with Rocklands in 2008.  He really enjoys sports of every sort.  His preaching style greatly inspired the staff!

2010 - 2011

Kate became part of our permanent staff in 2010, but chose to pursue a career in teaching at the end of 2011.  We wish her well!

Andrew Wallace Volunteer 2008

Andrew is one of Rocklands international imports; he is Irish and volunteered in 2008.  He really likes the South African band Goldfish.  Andrew taught many campers Irish dancing and was an excellent tour guide for our other volunteers!

Lanet Hane  Volunteer 2007
